Kyle Walker

I was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1964, but I moved to Florida right before 5th grade and grew up there. I graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic College with a BA in Psychology in 1989. Then I joined the Army, was stationed in Germany and served in the first Gulf War. I went back to school for my Masters in Teaching and took on my first 5th grade classroom in Maryland in 1997.  I taught 5th grade there and in Georgia for 5 years before going back to school again for Library Science and became an elementary school librarian in 2003. Fun fact about me is that I always have a lot going on. I write music and I write novels, practice guitar and piano, practice muay thai martial arts, kayak, and generally avoid doing any work around the house if I can.  I’m married to Charlotte who just retired this year from teaching 2nd grade.  This year I’m looking forward to getting a STEM program up and running at Maple Grove. I’m also looking forward to working with the best team of student roboticists in the district!

I was born in Denver and grew up in the Sloan’s Lake area. I went to college at CU Denver, majoring in English. I love writing poetry and short stories, spending time outdoors, power walking regularly and hiking. I try my best to live a very healthy lifestyle. I am also an avid reader. I have one wonderful son who is an RN and I am so proud of him. I am hoping to help students who previously did not enjoy reading explore the possibilities that books can offer. I have 17 years with the district, and I am so grateful and happy to be at Maple Grove this year, doing the job I love!
